It's not for nothing. They buy something:
So Microsoft passes like $100,000 to Red Hat for Red Hat to pretend they're friends and make press coverage that plays along with this paid-for lie. There's a lot more 'incriminating' stuff in that PDF - very much akin to what the Linux Foundation does for income.
Those corruption-loving publishers basically sell fake 'articles' as products to the companies they're about. Notice this new example from this collection. This page lacks an important disclosure: Red Hat pays this site for these puff pieces.
We'll write some more about it some other day. Some publishers that take money from IBM like to pretend that it makes no difference or lacks an impact on their coverage. Same for Microsoft...
