Arvind Krishna, IBM's CEO, Will Eventually Suck Up to Donald Trump Like His Predecessor Did or the Watson Family Did With Adolf Hitler
GAFAM is already (one might say prematurely) pledging allegiance to the dictator. What about IBM, which almost a century ago sucked up to Adolf Hitler in pursuit of business opportunities and then actively helped the "Final Solution" (for profit)? Well, IBM's current CEO - like his predecessor - is doing a half-kneel to the Don. IBM has many government contracts; it doesn't want to lose those. But at what cost? What might happen to its brand and reputation? What might that do to staff morale?
Will IBM's Arvind Krishna turn out to be no better than Ginni Rometty, a notorious (loathed by IBM workers) leader/figurehead which was mingling with the entire Trump family, upsetting a ton of IBM employees in the process? There are online petitions to prove her unpopularity and remind us of the widespread anger.
Contrary to what IBM says, it's not in a good position or shape. The company- and subsidiaries-wide layoffs are vastly more than it publicly admits or signals.
IBM keeps buying companies using its income. That helps darken information about total headcount and adds up revenues of other (new) companies. Of course this strategy has an horrific effect on IBM's total debt, now measured at over 60 billion dollars with high interest on the loans.
IBM ought not rely on the Conman in Chief. But it probably will. Wait and watch. █
