Microsoft isn't doing too well in America. Apple also. Having covered the Americas [1, 2], we've also just taken a look at Europe, where GNU/Linux made further gains this year. 2024 ends with Android on top of Windows' "market share".
The Americas and Europe are an important pairing. They are vital sources of revenue to Microsoft. If both of these stop sending taxpayers' money - usually just more cumbersome debt - to Microsoft's offshore (read: tax avoidance) bank accounts, Microsoft's collapse will be even faster.
In 2024, every month until this month we saw mass layoffs at Microsoft. It wasn't about some under-performing people, it's about Microsoft desperately trying to cut down expenses. █
