Free Software Foundation (FSF) Raises about $50,000 After Saying We Should Put Pressure on Microsoft, Might Exceed $300,000 in Total Before 2025 (Boston Time)
FSF fund-raiser now at 292k US dollars. Spectacular growth, rising at a pace of about $20k per day!
Yesterday: Free Software Foundation (FSF) Raised About 20,000 Dollars Today (Richard Stallman calls a spade what it is, that's why they hate him when they hate Software Freedom)
At the time of writing (3PM ET, the timezone for where the FSF is virtually based after shutting the office) the FSF's membership/donations bar stands at $292k, so maybe the FSF can make it to $300k+ by day's end (in Boston). It raised about $20k yesterday, so why the heck not? It's worth noting that the FSF raised nearly 20,000 US dollars in one day (that's a lot!) after it wrote about Microsoft [1, 2, 3]. Do not discount this as a factor.
We've noticed (but won't link to) Microsofters' attacks on the FSF. They noticeably intensified again after the FSF had written about Microsoft and raised a lot of money right after that.
Microsofters must be worried. The FSF singled out Microsoft as a threat.
That can truly hurt Microsoft GitHub and all those "charm offensives", such as "Microsoft loves Linux".
The more money the FSF raises, the more fire power it'll have against Microsoft. The FSF might exceed 300k US dollars (raised for year's end alone)... even without extension (time to end date).
Recently, an unscrupulous lawyer in London (who had received Microsoft money) asked for evidence of attacks on 3 FSF figures (in the key seats). He clearly paid no attention to Microsofters' attacks on the FSF. He's paid to ignore reality. Courts are not paid to ignore reality. █
