New Year
So it's 2025. I'm not sure how much time I will have for my phlog or for any other tree-time computer stuff.

Lemon chia seed muffins
After 8 years of tinkering I think I have finally found a recipe for lemon poppy seed muffins that I am happy with. Here is what I do for one dozen muffins: [...]

The Soft Science of Oppositional Defiant Disorder
We have a fresh new year, which means fresh new opportunities for me to put my foot in my mouth and offend people. Might as well get to it!
A human in my life recently told me of a human in their life, who has a human in *their* life who they've labeled with ADHD and ODD (these two acronyms are so common, sadly, that I don't need to spell them out; plus, you have the duck if you need to look them up). It's particularly popular to adopt or attribute the label of ADHD these days--you might say it's "having a moment". In general, psychological disorder labels are increasingly popular, by which I mean that people are more ready to label themselves and stigmas for such labels are not barriers in the way they perhaps used to be. If you think I'm a jerk for saying so, please see note 1*.

Analog stuff in 2024
Actually, nothing special happened. I have got a new leather case for notebooks for work and a new notebook with replaceable inserts for my traveling (it's a 1/3 of width of A4 format so it is also ideal for folding of printed train tickets inside).
I also have got a new fountain pen (the Kaweco Liliput) because it's quite portable. I have a converter for it so I don't need to use ink cartridges in most of cases (the converter is actually somewhat big for so small pen so it cannot be filled completely with ink - but it seems to be sufficient for me). A pen with cartridges would be better for travelling by plane, I think. So I have 4 fountain pens for the moment.
I still have been using the Seiko 5 automatic wristwatch. It's original band failed so I have swapped it for the one from one of my non-working wristwatches.

Linux Desktop Setup
For whatever reason, I can't simply be satisfied with my computing environment. I mean, at some level I am, but the ability to change almost any aspect of it is far too appealing for me to ignore. And so I do change things up, often.
Recently, I downloaded and compiled emwmw[1]. The Motif Window Manager was one of the first ones I ever used. Along with the ubiquitous twm, of cours. So when I saw that emwmw was in active development, I had to try it out.

Gopher hole cleanup
I suppose it's about time for my annual-ish cleanup of the gopher hole. That amounts to moving items from two years ago into the stasis folder, and perhaps relegating a few things to the apocalypse folder, and deleting apocalyptic items that have been sitting in that folder too long. In short, it's nothing special, just some file management.
