We Were Right About stallmansupport.org Making an Error by Joining Social Control Media. mastodon.social Suspends stallmansupport.org.
What we wrote as recently as last month: Playing Social Control Media 'Games' Instead of Writing Articles (this was about stallmansupport.org joining Mastodon)
Related: No, Mastodon is Not Growing, Social Control Media is Generally Waning
Mastodon is not about freedom; the Fediverse "masters" can be a lot like a cult that encourages groupthink and weeds out anything which feels 'uncomfortable'. I learned this and wrote about it 8 years ago [1, 2]. Others did too.
Imagine our non-surprise when today, a month after our gentle protest, this was posted:
Mastodon also has some accounts that claim to be of the real RMS, but we cannot verify this and RMS does not link to it. Similarly, the FSF has an account there.
Mastodon (all instances, they're all connected by federation) is a waste of time. The FSF ought to campaign against Social Control Media as a whole, even if this extends to Mastodon. It's another one of those things where "RMS was right" because he always discouraged the outsourcing of communications.
Social Control Media - including Mastodon - played a considerable role in the Ritual Defamation of RMS because that's just what Social Control Media is good at (bypassing facts and reason, causing outrage).
From what we can guess, accounts can be banned by some oversensitive admin or a mob of users ("bury brigades") who are angry that RMS isn't using plural pronouns for singular persons. Remember what happened in YouTube last week. █
