Germany's Incoming Leader Said He'd Seek More Independence from the US, GNU/Linux Soars to 6%
Last month it was 5%. Now:
According to statCounter (see above), things are moving in a positive direction, even if Friedrich Merz isn't quite so positive (except compared to the radical/nazi right). Last week we showed that Merz was directing the country to move towards independence from the US, seeing that Donald Putin was not a reliable ally, even a passive-aggressive foe. Around the same time some European tech experts were cautioning that GAFAM cannot be relied upon by European politicians for privacy reasons (espionage) and yesterday we mentioned some European public sector dumping Microsoft's Azure in spite of all the openwashing and "Microsoft loves Linux" PR charade [1, 2].
If decision-making officials pay any attention, they will recognise the urgency of abandoning GAFAM, not just the M (Microsoft) in GAFAM. Chromebooks aren't the way to go; we ought to advocate freedom- and privacy-respecting GNU/Linux.
Thankfully we've already disengaged. Will the public sector follow? People can vote with their wallets by not opening their wallets to GAFAM. █
