Brett Wilson LLP Does Not Deny Microsoft or Another "Third Party" Secretly Funds the SLAPPs Against Techrights, Bankrolling Despicable People Who Deserve Criticism
Writing about crime is not a crime
While we generally do not disclose pertinent details of ongoing cases [1, 2], giving an occasional update can help the general public keep abreast.
We now have it from the horse's own mouth. It was a missed opportunity and we shall act accordingly.
A year ago I said: Microsoft has the most or the biggest stake in the outcome. "Maybe they even cover MJG's bills (one way or the other, this is extremely likely). I said this all along, right from the very start, and others said the same thing."
That was last year.
People who follow Techrights have said this for a long time and last October the presence of Microsoft money was finally confirmed. But how deep does this go? A company dislikes the reporting, especially Microsoft (we wrote a lot about this in the past), so it's possibly looking for individuals who can do the SLAPP while making it seem like a purely personal thing, basically proxies.
One might ask: What legal means do I have for curtailing such efforts?
Stay tuned.
Fighting against crime and exposing crimes isn't a crime. Stop punishing people who do the right thing.
I have a long history of unearthing and reporting crimes in the UK (examples from 2023 [1, 2, 3, 4]) and I never stepped back. In this case, we're dealing with Americans from Microsoft with debt-saddled "guns for hire", looking to cover up crimes against women and massive GPL violations (billions at stake).
Even if Microsoft and/or its executives do not fund the SLAPPs directly, Microsoft certainly has a lot to gain from these SLAPPs. █
