Islands Are Leaving Microsoft Behind, According to statCounter
Almost a year ago Julian Assange was belatedly freed (liberated albeit with a tarnished record). He faced a US court in a colony where GNU/Linux had grown [1, 2]. We hardly hear from him anymore.
One curious thing about Northern Mariana Islands is that - according to Web usage as observed by statCounter - in the past year there Windows fell from 42% to about 35% (in January it was about 30%) and big gains were made by Android, now at an all-time high of 43.3%:
There are many other islands where we see the same thing, e.g. Nauru (pop. ~12,000), where Windows fell to another all-time low. In Oceania in general Android has had a very strong year and Windows is now at an all-time low:
Going from island to island and checking the status of Windows, it probably won't be easy to locate a laptop because most devices that access the Web are mobile and small. █
