The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Hijacked Again by Patent Litigation Industry, as President Cheeto Prioritises Aggressors

The "mafia" has taken over the "industry" and the Federal system (justice and constitutions trampled upon)

Industry shill and lobbyist as head of the biggest patent office in the world (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)) is not a new problem. Troll as head of USPTO? That's a newer thing. And "the next USPTO Director, John Squires, was chief IP counsel at Goldman Sachs and helped create Fortress Investment’s IP fund." So says a suppressed voice, citing this article. The family of President Cheeto shamelessly becomes an investor in patent trolls while passing laws to empower them or appointing people to make such a policy, as noted last month by the EFF's Joe Mullin.

It also names Spangenberg, the patent troll (the article says "patent monetizer") who was sending threats to me and casually invading events of the corrupt EPO, where he promoted software patents (despite being American) and now exploits an illegal and unconstitutional kangaroo court with backing from the Cheeto family.

This is really terrible to watch. The rule of law is basically in disarray as a litigation "industry" takes over the system meant to guard against parasites, promoting science at the expense of that nuisance.

"Patent troll as head of USPTO," we got told yesterday, citing another recent report, and, to quote: "It's mentioned he will push for swpat [software patents] law."

That's for politicians (or lawmakers) to do, if so they choose, not for USPTO. But remember how the US government is run now. They just don't seem to care what's legal and constitutional; if judges "stand in the way", they then threaten to impeach them. SCOTUS responded to this in very strong terms some weeks ago.

"Meanwhile," to quote the above, "Dani Kass at Law360 is reporting that John A. Squires, currently a partner at Dilworth Paxson and former chief IP counsel at Goldman Sachs, is expected to be nominated as the next USPTO Director. Like Lutnick, Squires has extensive fintech experience."

That seems like another Iancu, who soon after leaving his Federal hat was working for some of the worst patent trolls out there (as we noted at the time), though it is not that much better than Biden putting a Microsofter (who had represented Microsoft) in charge of the Office. During her term in the USPTO she managed to impose financial penalties on anybody who does not use Microsoft's proprietary formats!

"The worst subsidy the State passes isn't adopting Microsoft software for the State to use," Ryan notes, "or buying unused licenses that nobody there even uses, which was apparently happening a lot under Biden, it's when they demand Microsoft use for people who casually interact with the government. I've hit this wall several times, and sometimes it's not even true. They recommend things like using Microsoft Edge to edit a PDF and say your filing might be rejected if you use other PDF software. So you have to print it out and paper file it because you don't know if they've done something to the forms that will make them unusable when THEY open them."

This is really bad, no matter how one frames or spins it.

It's the same issue with the SLAPP industry, which would seek to control any reform and still enable aggressive men from Microsoft in the US try to SLAPP people in the UK. It's heating up though; all those SLAPPs are a black eye and sooner or later people demand change.
