The Web Can Survive LLM Slop, But Only If We Collectively Shun and Discourage Serial Sloppers
It is sort of sad that we seem to be the only site in "FOSS circles" that speaks out against LLM slop. I cannot think of even a single "FOSS" site that even touched the subject, let alone complained about the most prolific Serial Sloppers, such as this man:
That was hours ago. Pure junk, as usual:
Our sister site, which is all about "FOSS" (Free software, BSDs, GNU/Linux), will soon turn 21, but nowadays it has the "Extra Task" or the "Burden" of needing to check if it links to legitimate articles. Without checking, it might send traffic to (or reward) LLM slop, i.e. plagiarists.
We continue to urge more sites to speak about this issue and, having at least spoken about it, actively encourage others to do the same. We need to combat the scourge of slop, which is a frequent source of anti-Linux lies and/or FUD. Doing nothing ought not be a possibility. █
