  • Losing Their Shit over the Stock Market

    Over the last 6 weeks or so, the US has turned into an absolute horror show. Let's list a few of the horrors, shall we?

    * Mass deportations, revocation of legal status, "accidental" deportation of people who are in the US legally, and international students being "disappeared" for exercising their freedom of speech or who knows what, really. That was such a long sentence because it's a horror show within the horror show.

    * The unaccountable wrecking crew led by the eugenicist, Nazi saluter, and Swasticar salesman Musk is making massive cuts to government and usurping the power of Congress. Note that Eugenics Boy was not elected and went through no nomination / confirmation process.

    * Antagonizing of allies like Europe and Canada, while being cozy with dictators like Putin.

    * Threatening to invade, uh, Greenland and Canada. I can't make this shit up, and the writing staff needs to be fired.

    * Filling the government with unqualified yes men like Pete Hegseth.

    * Trying to rewrite history.

    * Declaring a state of emergency.

    * Governing by Executive Order.

  • Galène was comparatively easy to setup

    I remember how tricky the Jitsi setup was, at the time. When we used it, system load for my small server jumped up to seven or eight. And in the end, we all ended up on Discord. But with Discord showing annoying ads even to paying customers, I'm taking another look at the alternatives.

    From my point of view, Galène has the benefits of requiring just a single binary for installation. Sure, deployment is trickier, but in typical Go fashion, you get a huge binary that you copy over to the server and you're essentially ready to test it.

  • DMT Entities

    I am currently reading *The Illustrated Field Guide to DMT Entities* and while I have never encountered an entity on DMT, I did watch the gods enter and exit our realm through a portal in the ceiling.

    Interesting that the cover of the book shows an illustration titled the god molecule - a molecule with eyes as the nucleus. Many, many times on shrooms I have seen something similar, except I saw cells. Pulsing, living biological cells with eyes as their nucleus.

      I’m still working on deploying again my blog to gemini, and now that I can export gemini links from orgmode to markdown, it was time for the next step(s). I decided years ago to kiln, a simple capsule generator, because it was simple yet close enough to my ways of working with Hugo for my website.

      I’m currently working on deploying again my blog as a gemini capsule (if you don’t know what the gemini protocol is, read about it here) as I haven’t deployed any update to my gemini capsules for more than a year. While doing so, I had an issue when exporting my posts writen in org mode to markdown: each gemini:// link where ignore and removed in the exported file.
