Walmart Vizio TVs Scream At Immigrants to Leave America

Vizio TV

I have a Vizio TV. It is a 2015 model I got on Black Friday. The original had the screen crap out two weeks in, so Vizio replaced it under warranty.

As such, I’ve not bought a TV in a while because this one has managed to hold up over the last ten years.

Apparently much has changed since 2015, and not for the better.

My TV has some of those stupid “Smart Apps” but they’re so dated they don’t even do much anymore, and I don’t give the TV an internet connection. I stuck a Roku in it mostly for DLNA casting support, but for the most part I just watch the antenna channels and discs.

Now, according to Jamie Zawinski, who referenced Reddit (Archive Today) and Vizio themselves (Archive Today), Vizio TVs have some sort of “feature” called “Scenic Mode”.

Basically, when the TV isn’t playing anything, or when you use the Vizio channels, it breaks to ads. “Scenic Mode” is what happens eventually when it’s been paused too long, and it starts playing nature videos or something, which are essentially a screensaver full of stock content that Vizio gets for free.

But these nature videos and stuff break to ads, and so far one of those ads has been Kristi Noem, the fascist shithead that Donald Trump put in charge of the Department of Homeland Security.

The DHS has been buying commercials on the radio, “social media”, and apparently now Vizio TVs, which are of Noem screaming at immigrants to get out of the country in an unhinged manic rant, and praising Donald Trump, with taxpayer money.

Sometimes this commercial repeats three times in a row before it goes back to the nature videos.

Walmart owns Vizio, so they’re ultimately the ones doing this.

I heard one of Noem’s radio messages, and now whenever the radio plays it I just flip to something else. The government has turned to Nazism, and threats.

They openly bully people who are in the country legally.

The other day they even sent a letter to some Ukrainians (Archive Today) who have NOT had their Temporary Protected Status terminated, telling them to “leave before we find you”, and then they said it was a mistake, but apparently never sent an email to those affected saying nevermind.

There’s a disclaimer in the email that says “unless you have some other legal status”, but 99% of the letter is threatening things like criminal charges, and many people with Lawful Permanent Residence are even getting these letters.

The whole thing is supposed to be menacing, and scattershot, so that some immigrants will self-deport and never be allowed back in, even though nobody can legally make them leave.

This government knows exactly what it’s doing.

According to Jamie Zawinski, some “Smart TVs” have gotten so nasty that they demand an internet connection, or they won’t even let you watch antenna channels or use the HDMI ports. Although, some will allow local content if you put them in a store demo mode that’s usually hidden.

Some newer models simply refuse to operate if you do that.

Another trick is to put them in “demo mode”, which, counterintuitively, turns off a lot of bullshit for when they are sitting in store showroom displays. It’s usually very deep in the menus. -JWZ (in response to a suggestion to just not allow internet connection to the TV)

Part of the reason they’re so cheap, and Walmart admits this is why they bought Vizio, is because they’re a Trojan Horse that’s supposed to get ads into your living room, including from shit for brains fascists, like Kristi Noem.

“We believe Vizio’s customer-centric operating system provides great viewing experiences at attractive price points,” Dallaire adds. “We also believe it enables a profitable advertising business that is rapidly scaling.” -Walmart’s “Chief Revenue Officer” Seth Dallaire

Hey, it’s like they said in RoboCop, “Good Business is where you find it!”, so Walmart found good business taking taxpayer money so your TV can scream racist xenophobic shit written by literal Nazis…. and then return you to your delightful nature channel.

Your television is subsidized by The Party. Some don’t work unless you allow the government and advertisers to broadcast messages you don’t want to hear.

Who knows? Eventually, you may not be allowed to even turn it off.

Around the same time, the Trump Administration shut down a federal agency that funds libraries. (Archive Today)

Clearly, they don’t want anyone to read, and they don’t want anyone to refuse to have a TV in their house.

Right now, I could get a 70″ TV for less than $400, but to get that deal, I might have to accept that a Nasty Woman (to borrow a Trump-ism) would be screaming at me about immigrants every time I paused it to go take a leak.

No thanks.

Someone on JWZ’s blog suggested getting a “projector” that is 1080p. He said that it’s just like a TV except all it can do is take input from HDMI and put things on the screen, and he said these tend to cost about $1200 or so.

So, we can reasonably guess at what the subsidy is on a Walmart Vizio, to get government propaganda and advertising nonsense screaming into your ears.

Without all this “advertising money” the government is subsidizing the Walmart Vizio TV with now, so it can route propaganda through it, that $400 70″ TV might cost $700-800.

The Nazis were masters of propaganda.

They said that if you lie enough and tell it loudly enough, the people hearing it will eventually believe it.

The federal government has unlimited money to hand to Walmart to put this garbage through your TV.

It seems Trump might have studied Adolf Hitler’s books that his “Jewish” friend (who isn’t really Jewish) gave him. (Archive Today)

Trump then recalled, “Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of ‘Mein Kampf,’ and he’s a Jew.”

Brenner added that Davis did acknowledge that he gave Trump a book about Hitler.

“But it was ‘My New Order,’ Hitler’s speeches, not ‘Mein Kampf,'” Davis reportedly said. “I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I’m not Jewish.” -Business Insider Article

There was a Hitler book, and the “friend” who recommended it was not a Jew.

As for the televisions, if what Walmart and Vizio are up to involving the Nasty Woman from DHS are some sort of beta test for a future barrage of all sorts, I may just have to accept that at some point in the future I will not have a TV set.

If it’s just going to bother me and shout things from the government that are malicious, nasty, a false narrative, and frankly spends the first ten seconds giving Donald Trump a blowjob, I’d really rather not have one, even if they were going to pay for the whole thing.
