IBM and MCC: Layoffs Coming Again to Metro Connect Company Limited (MCC) as Tariffs Bite and IBM's Shares Fall
Blacklists applicable to Chinese suppliers also mean that IBM can no longer cooperate with key partners in Asia
LAST year many folks reported or chatted about mass layoffs at MCC (Metro Connect Co., Ltd. (MCC) or - shell games set aside - in IBM. We too wrote about it at the time. Until almost 20 years ago I worked at a different "MCC" (home of the first GNU/Linux distro) and resigned when the job started to suck. I still have my resignation E-mail somewhere (I had worked there since 2002).
If one can ignore race-baiting, then one can sense the brewing IBM layoffs based on minutes-old 'gossip':
Workers are also exceedingly displeased (understatement, putting it politely) about their latest "bonus" (about half a million times smaller than the chiefs'):
To many workers it seems like more of an insult, not a gift. This is how much IBM "values" or "appreciates" their hard work and extra hours.
IBM and Red Hat are meanwhile both changing their policies in order to appease their Fuhrer. Years ago they told us the word "master" was racist; now look at them licking the boots of Cheeto and MElon. █
What a principled company. Go lecture the FSF some more.
