IBM Closes Offices and Labs in the United States to Open New Ones in India
It's not layoffs per se; they're substituting/swapping veteran employees for lesser-paid ones
IBM had a "bloodbath" some weeks ago. Many thousands got fired. In a few hours we'll likely hear more.
"New IBM Software Lab in Lucknow," an anonymous poster said 4 hours ago. "A brand new site being opened in India. Following a zero-sum rule, likely means a location(s) somewhere else will be closing. . ."

Another thread was started 3 hours ago to speak of "Multiple Office Closures 8AM 4/16". To quote: "Announcement coming tomorrow for multiple offices to close and relocate to Austin, TX by end of year. Plan has been in place for several months but will be communicated tomorrow AM. Good luck!"
