Egypt is Controlled by Google, Not Microsoft
Like in so many other countries, especially countries where phones easily outnumber PCs, in Egypt Google Search enjoys 98% of "the market" (so says/sees statCounter), Chrome is above 80%, and "desktops" steadily decline. Vista 7 is up, Vista 11 is down, and it generally seems like GNU/Linux continues to grow - same trend we saw last year. Two years ago Windows had sunk to less than 10% and today we see iOS almost growing beyond Windows. There seems to be no long-term future for Windows and Microsoft is aware that the 90s are long gone [1, 2], so it is attempting new anticompetitive tricks.
Remember that choices and freedom are not the same thing.
Consider this old message from Richard Stallman to Egypt. He stressed the importance of Free software, but Egypt seems to be swapping one GAFAM master with another master.
Moving from Microsoft to Google is not the answer. Google is bad in other ways. █
