You see, the problem is that many people nowadays use WhatsApp or Viber or whatever comes on a phone. At the start of this year Brazil saw desktop (or laptop) usage at only 31% and in some poorer countries, including many in Africa, desktop (or laptop) usage is somewhere around 10%. That's a huge problem for Microsoft.
There's no quick fix for this. Microsoft spent a lot of money trying to convert Nokia into a Windows powerhouse and instead it killed Nokia. When did you last see someone with a Nokia phone? Or saw a Nokia phone at a shop?
Expect a wild ride for Microsoft this year. We estimate that in less than 100 days in 2025 Microsoft sacked over 5,000 workers or an average of 50+ per day. █
