Some of the Evidence We'll Be Relying Upon in the Lawsuits Against Matthew J. Garrett
Finally facing the consequences for his actions (since ~20 years ago), someone will need to book a flight to the UK and face (in person) the people he abused for many years (he started doing this around the time Aaron Swartz died from abusive litigation). Among the issues he will have to discuss with the High Court: breaking into other people's devices, hijacking other people's usernames to impersonate them, writing about stabbing people (and other forms of violence), to name just a few.
Thankfully, for number of decades already I've been meticulous about documenting and archiving things, so further evidence he must confront includes the way:
- Matthew J. Garrett threatened people in our IRC channel
- Matthew J. Garrett sent threatening communications to webhosts
- Matthew J. Garrett issued threatening ultimatums to my wife, Rianne (women had the right gut feeling about this man who boasts about going to FOSS conferences for sex)
In addition to that there are politics of intolerance and abuse of other people - this went on and on for many years. Then there's his women-strangling litigation 'friend' (they're not strangers), who did numerous horrible things at Microsoft aside from the strangling of women. The strangling of women isn't even the worst offence.
These American people are a menace to society and they have thrived in groups of online sociopaths (whom they secretly or even openly abhorred).
They knew their SLAPPs would be worthless, so they took the cheapest option and lowest common denominator [1, 2, 3].
GNOME should be ashamed of itself for enabling - not just associating with - such mobsters/monsters. Is this the best it can attract? Then, instead of getting rid of them it's trying to get rid of articles documenting the problem?
Shame on GNOME. It fires all the women when there are difficult financial times and in addition to that its prominent members are attacking women (not just discriminating against them). GNOME loves women who can be trafficked. That's how poorly it views women. Remember that GNOME was started by people in the country of femicide, which is also among the world's worst when it comes to violence against journalists. █
