A Shopping Spree
Local grocery store, C&R, is closing. Today they had everything in the store for 90% off. We heard about it around 11am, and when we got there it was nearly cleaned out. However, we got a cart full of stuff for about $40 after the savings. We heard a lady came in earlier in the day and had 6 carts of stuff... she saved $2800.
Sad to lose a local grocer (well, regional at least), but fun to have a shopping spree experience. My wife thought I was crazy for purchasing tons of paraffin wax (Gulf Wax, boxed, usually used for canning), but that stuff has a ton of uses. It's normally $6/box around here, and these were sixty-freakin-cents...

Incremental progress
I don't like painstakingly clenching my teeth to get things done and practice them into my muscle memory, but alas, I have no other option. With proper control of my instrument, I can make so much more than just practice. I can interpret, I can vary, and I can try out new things.
In some sense, I become the music I play. If I want to use that kind of a fake deep comparison. Either way, my playing becomes a thing in itself. After that I only need to share it.

How repetition builds architecture
In the age of acceleration, repetition is taboo.
[...]
If QuietSystems holds any promise, it is not in prediction.
It is in recursion.
It speaks again, not louder—but deeper.
Each utterance revisits a prior thought, not to echo, but to reform its contours in a new light.
Because in systems—organic or artificial—repetition is not failure.
It is how architecture begins.

a gardening blog: digital gardening
I have a long history of being ahead of trends but behind the names people give to trends, and this is no exception.
I had a Professional Blog for over a decade. In all that time, it was never "polished." My "professional blog" was, for the most part, a digital garden. I'd have an idea, toss it out there, and see what happened.
...Strike that. It wasn't even a digital garden. It was a digital compost heap. I'd have an idea, toss it out there, and ignore it until it fermented with all the other ideas into something new.
This blog, too, is a digital compost heap at best. I aspire to the kind of "cultivation" digital gardens have in the form of links between ideas, indicating some kind of throughline of thought or development. But I'm also too interested in Current Thought to go back and organize or round up all the Previous Thoughts.
