What Happened to the Open Source Initiative (OSI) Elections: A Moment of Silence and Revisionism Amid US Government Investigation and Community Uproar
Not a word this month.
Today and tomorrow we look back at things that happened earlier this year because future parts in this series will depend on it. The issues are connected to the election, but there are many more issues beyond that. It's not just about stewardship, bylaws etc.
"Congratulations," one person said, "keep the pressure up. I hope that the end result can be eliminating the Microsoft influence either by replacing the OSI or having it clean house. The former is more likely."
In the last part we mentioned the OSI purge of critics, even concerned insiders. In the previous chapter (March) we said a lot more about it.
The Open Source Initiative (OSI) may be fighting for its very survival following a series of blunders (the OSI is also under an ongoing investigation by US authorities). It has not blogged at all this month (tomorrow is the 12th of May) and a lot of what it says is marketing nonsense or amendment to old posts in response to great scrutiny (silent amendments are a form of revisionism).
Expect OSI to resort to personal attacks against critics, even blocking/deplatforming them [1, 2]. Yes, that's what the OSI does. What a lovely 'non-profit'.
The real politics of OSI are as secretive as the Vatican's.
Stay tuned. █
