You Need Not Be a Big Company to Defeat Microsoft If You Can Successfully Challenge Its Core "Ideas"
RMS (Richard M. Stallman) recognises that "social inertia the main obstacle", hence his focus on philosophy and public speaking (which some gullible fools attempt to prevent).
Hours ago in MElonville: (oligarchs' absolutism)
Around 2008 people in our IRC channels pointed out that RMS, despite his accomplishments (many awards and dozens of honorary Ph.D.'s as recognition) was "flying coach". They viewed this as a badge of modesty and saw/interpreted it as him not being a damned hypocrite.
Some days ago RMS gave a talk in the place where Lukáš Hozda lives (Czech Republic). He was wearing pretty much the same clothes that he wore months earlier in Italy and other locations in Europe. We shared some photos at the time.
RMS has long been like this. He comments on his choice of clothing (limited sets, this limits damage to the environment through reduced consumption) in his personal Web site and we are sort of staggered to see people twisting principles from the lens of "poor-shaming".
To defeat not only Microsoft (github.com traffic down 6% this past month, microsoft.com down 5% this past month, and LinkedIn.com down 4% this past month) but GAFAM as a whole we must explain to people the fundamental issues; we don't want people to move from one bad to another bad.
We've long observed and responded to online scorn against RMS (this year it escalated to vile antisemitism; they seem to have normalised this, even through surrogates and subtle innuendo).
Maybe that's just a sign that the ideas of RMS have become too effective and thus "dangerous" (to some people) █
