Many IBM Layoffs, Centred Around Expert Labs US in Atlanta (Offer of "Relocation" Where No Such Option Exists)
So Techrights was assessing comments/gossip online and it was right about the Thursday cull
IBM had many layoffs yesterday, based around the southern states, as predicted. "Their ideologically driven anti-FOSS/pro-Microsoft agenda," an associate argues, "pushed by "former" Microsofters on the payroll is coming home to roost."
IBM Red Hat has become rather ridiculous. It's all buzzwords and sometimes proprietary software.
The thing to notice here is how they do the layoffs. They'll mislead the media similarly. In Microsoft and other companies they say you have some time to look for internal vacancies to move to, so it wasn't layoffs. But no such vacancies existed. We covered such examples before. How brutal and dishonest. They pass the blame to workers, based on mythical contingencies.
Here are some of the latest discussions regarding yesterday's layoffs:
That first comment says: "It is happening all over the place… it is brutal and so many good IBMers are going to have to leave IBM because they can’t relocate!"
Several people say "30 day notice, 3 months severance."
Focus on Atlanta. These seem to be "expensive" veterans.
