No More Steven Astorino at IBM, Chatter About Weekly/Nonstop Layoffs at IBM
"Steven Astorino is the General Manager, Product Development, Data, AI & Sustainability, and Canada Lab Director at IBM," according to his site.
According to posts in this page, Astorino left the building and he's not coming back. What happened? Good luck guessing. Maybe he got pushed. Join Mr. McKinsey (McK), Clay Cowan.
But meanwhile there's also this new thread about goodbyes:
IBM's false claims are meanwhile circulating in media and LLM slop, perpetuating the idea that the layoffs aren't due to real financial problems (soaring debt) but due to slop (they say "AI", maybe the I means India).
That's a lot. They are not replaced by slop. IBM lost many lucrative contracts with the US government and clients generally leave. The cuts are inevitable. They also doom any prospects of recovery.
IBM is basically a dying giant, just like Microsoft (more layoffs revealed less than a day ago). █
