She swaths in, a swatch of stardust...
She swaths in, a swatch of stardust drooping off her wrist, and takes a seat.
"What will it be?" says the barkeeper. "Anything," sighs our darling dreamer.
She pulls out a pen and notepad. Symphonic scritches of a nib -
live more
I closed my eyes and I traveled from narrow alleyways in cities full of filth to strangely lush gardens in the short, sweet northern summer to remote villages in the mountains somewhere where they don't welcome visitors they know better places I'll never see people I'll never meet you say I need to live more get out of the house more but I have no fight left in me and fight is what it takes to battle the monsters holding me down

1P/Halley meetup, July 2061
one of the few fond memories I have for the brief time my biological father was in my life was seeing Halley's Comet on its approach in 1986 - we stood in the back yard and used a powerful home-made telescope, he rigged film and a closed circuit video camera to capture the moment. I was deep into astronomy even back then. I would have been 7. my mother still has photos from then stashed somewhere but she's a boomer, a narcissist and a hoarder so my chances of getting a copy of them is pretty slim, short of raiding her storage locker when she's not around.

My ideal setup
(NB: a “point”, in Mac-weenie parlance, is a 2×2 square of pixels on a normal Retina-class monitor. You can get this point-to-pixel ratio if you crank your text zoom in Windows or GNOME to 200%. A 4K (3840×2160) monitor, at 200% zoom, will give you an extra-crisp 1080p experience, although if your 4K monitor is any larger than 21″ or 24″ diagonally all the UI elements on your screen will look larger than you’re probably used to.)

Right now, I have a 27″ 5K (so, ≈217.6ppi) screen in front of me, and one 27″ 4K (so, ≈163.2ppi) screen on the side, rotated into portrait orientation. I was surprised by how useful tall screens are, especially when reading long bits of verbiage like ChatGPT output.
However, I like how everything automatically gets bigger when I move things from my central 27″ 5K screen to my side 27″ 4K screen (my eyes are awful). On the other hand, I don’t like how narrow 1080 points is, though. I have to shrink a bunch of windows to make them narrower when I move them off to a side window. Since my “ideal” pages have all been in fantasyland…
