Last Article From Australia's Sam Varghese Was a Year Ago and It Covered the Release of Julian Assange, Who Will Apparently Come Back as 'Politician'
It'll soon be exactly 12 months
The Wikileaks site has not been updated or has not had any new/major publication since 2021. Its founder, however, is recovering and thinking of becoming politically active again [1,2], though he's not giving any public talks or interviews just yet (so says his wife, who is also not so active except in a racist site that promotes a Kremlin-themed slant/groupthink).
The founder, Mr. Assange, may never be as active as was in and around 2010, as he lacks or lost a large quotient of his energy. At least he's still alive and still mentally sharp.
He and his confidants/family try to support people in a similar predicament [3] and sadly it is this month that Sam Varghese's long run at ITWire (a site that became somewhat of a spamfarm for press wires) is still inactive, now for an entire year. It does not look like he's coming back to political or technical journalism, though he has his personal blog (last updated 1.5 months ago). ITWire seems to be another quickly-perishing site. Varghese was probably let go. He was active there for nearly 20 years. His last article was about Assange coming back to Australia.
Journalism and whistleblowing - or reporters and key sources - both require special and strong protections. We'll be actively pursuing those in years to come. █
