Linux is Already Dominant (Android), Let's Make GNU/Linux Dominant in Desktops/Laptops as Well
Not many nations are left where Windows has majority share or even the highest share:
Days ago it was revealed that Microsoft had applied for bankruptcy in Russia. So expect a lot of the "blue" in the map above to vanish away over time. Most nations are dominated by Android and some richer nations have a lot of iOS in them (Apple).
This is the birthplace of the Linux kernel:
It's being noted this week that GNU/Linux reaches record highs again. Here's "Linux user share hits a multi-year high on Steam for May 2025" from Liam Dawe:
The Linux user share on Steam has been slowly but steadily trending upwards, with May 2025 showing the highest point in years. At least since 2018, this is the highest it has ever been in a long time. When you take into account how Steam is always growing, it's showing that the amount of Linux users on Steam continues to grow nicely too.
Microsoft is trying to sabotage GNU/Linux and steal the brand, but this won't succeed. It wants people to stay with Windows and believe that WSL is "Linux" and "open source". Neither is true.
At the end we want people to discover freedom and embrace GNU/Linux. That's the end goal. As we wrote yesterday, "Dr. Stallman recently warned everybody about Microsoft."
When he talks, as he still does, many people listen. The Microsofters defame him and try to incite against him because of the underlying message. They know he is effective, so they engineer phony scandals. █
