Abuse Inside the Polish Patent Office (UPRP) - Part VI: Political Stunts by Former President Edyta Demby-Siwek and the Connection to Profound Corruption at EUIPO

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jun 09, 2025

Where jobs are notorious as bribes or tenures "rewarded" for complicity in illegal things

Edyta Demby-Siwek

This is the part where we cross over to some "politics", as sadly enough - more so over time - institutions meant to deal with science and technology became political hubs, instead. Social climbers, who are sometimes sociopathic, are attracted to that like magnets. They need not care about or even understand science; what matters to them is... power. Just for power's sake. With poweer comes money, respect etc.

Scientists? To them those are just "props" - people to trample over.

In Part I, Part II, and Part III we outlined some of the scandals. Part IV dealt with the politics, and Part V said that laws had been broken.

Another issue, from what we've been told, involves the use of public funds to build former President Edyta Demby-Siwek’s “personal brand” while neglecting fundamental matters. The former President of the UPRP has been promoted and is now Deputy Executive Director of EUIPO. The report further criticizes unprofessional public behavior—such as holiday greeting videos and dressing in costumes—deemed harmful to the credibility of the public institution at the European level.

We already wrote a great deal about corruption at EUIPO; it's like a money-laundering operation where one politician rewards another at taxpayers' expense:

The Council of the European Union has appointed Sven Stürmann as the new President of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal and Edyta Demby-Siwek to the position of Deputy Executive Director of the EUIPO

Way to discredit and thus destabilise the EU.

Even the tribunals there are plagued or tainted by nepotism. It's awful.

It does not seem to matter if UPRP becomes rubbish, workers are impoverished etc. The person responsible has moved on to "Europejskiej ds. Własności Intelektualnej (EUIPO)."

Has UPRP been reduced to a personal springboard?
