Abuse Inside the Polish Patent Office (UPRP) - Part IX: Minimum Wages For You (Experienced Scientist), Alicante/EU Paydays For Me (Unproductive, Corrupt Official)
Does UPRP maladministration extend to the false belief that qualified and experienced scientists can play the role of circus clowns?
The previous part focused on the health of staff at UPRP, which was subjected to illegal working hours and more facets to be explored later on. Some of those implicated are already enjoying diplomatic immunity in Alicante, so it'll be hard to hold them legally accountable. Corruption is tolerated by key parties.
Last year we revisited "Young Professionals" (YPs), or "Pan-European Seal Young Professionals Programme". It's not quite what it sounds like. It's about attacking the workforce and abolishing standards. It should be noted that the corrupt EUIPO participates in this programme as well:
This is about significantly lowering the salaries of workers. EPO used to require knowing 3 languages and having some degree/s like Masters or Ph.D.
Compare to the above.
John Kerry has just been quoted by French media as saying: "We can't continue to allow people to retreat from science"
Yes, and moreover it's not a problem that's limited to the US and Europe. They're devaluing the workers and cheapening everything - to the point where there is no incentive to improve science and technology and instead they're protecting existing monopolists, shielding them from competition using an ocean of low-quality, garbage "patents".
In this week's patent spheres:

Former Patent Examiner Takes IP Australia to Federal Court Over Alleged ‘Abusive Management Practices’
A former IP Australia patent monopoly examiner who alleges ‘unlawful, unreasonable, unfair, inefficient, and abusive management practices’ at the government agency is seeking Federal Court review of Fair Work Commission (FWC) decisions that rejected his unfair dismissal claim.
At EUIPO they are cheapening the staff, even sending EU jobs to India (illegal), as António Campinos did. They're attacking quality and salaries [1, 2] under the guise of "inclusion". It is the mindset of "we do you a huge favour by letting you keep your job" - the mentality of people who gut their own companies/organisations.
I asked an UPRP insider about some of those things. "Yes, that's right," one of them said, "they use the same methods. In my office, Alicja Adamczak and then Edyta Demby-Siwek used the method of economic coercion."
We already mentioned many times before that underpaid EPO staff (especially new entrants) wasn't in the position to join the union because the salary was too low; basics like food and rent (or mortgage) came first.
"Even experts with many years of experience," an UPRP insider said, "received the minimum wage for their work. They could only get additional remuneration for working overtime during working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m."
It's not only illegal, as covered before, it leaves people with little time for any hobbies/family and the salary is so low that creating a union or taking a labour consultant/lawyer is financially challenging. █
