10,000+ Articles in About 20 Months (and How We Got Here)
This page or this article will be #10021 once published. #1 was published in late September 2023 after we had left the US and set up the system developed since 2022.
How did we get to 10k and how did we do it so fast? Well, for one thing the interfaces (command line) are faster and more efficient. When I was using WordPress to edit or write something I needed to deal with categories, I had to do further work in the back end (lots of "moving parts" in such a "modern" CMS), and the mind was sometimes occupied/distracted by DDoS attacks. I was constantly monitoring the server; I had a whole monitor devoted to monitoring.
I estimate that our uptime so far this year is somewhere around 99.999%. We did a few reboots to update kernels, but rebooting only takes a minute or less. We did that maybe 4 times this year. In 180 days there are 15,552,000 seconds.
In my experience, the K.I.S.S. principles help when writing . They help a great deal. More bloat does not beget efficiency and "bells and whistles" tend to have a hidden cost.
Will we ever get back to WordPress? No Wayland! █
