The "News" You Saw About Canonical is Misleading, It Made Only 18 Million Dollars Last Year and Barely Paid Any Taxes
Lies (or half-truths) are the norm these days...
We have seen 3 articles and videos that say - or try to suggest - Canonical is making about 300 million dollars a year. Rather than rely on those lazy "bloggers" (who mostly just quote one another) go to the original and formal documents. This is how much money Canonical reports to have made last year (net):
Notice how little corporate tax they pay. Mark Shuttleworth already got in a hot legal battle for tax evasion in South Africa (he lost). Canonical uses a tiny island to do the same all over again, even if in reality it's based in London.
