Anxiety at Microsoft: Many Workers (Maybe Over 10,000) Still Don't Know They're Being Laid Off Just Before US Independence Day
Less than an hour ago someone asked: "Wow, it’s not fake news, it’s real! @OP, do you know if this round will be just like the round in May with people being invited to a “work meeting” and then shared the news there? I have heard the gaming division just sent out an email and that was it?"
Shortly later: "Has anyone gotten the notification yet?"
Other forum posts complain about a lack of communication.
It does not seem like they planned this properly. Imagine trying to have a normal "day at a job" today at Microsoft. They don't say how many are laid off, they don't say which teams are impacted.... nothing.
Based on anonymous tipsters that Business Insider speaks of, even people who worked there for many years are given pay for just 60 days. The severance packages years ago were considered more "generous", but Microsoft is tight with money. To Microsoft thugs, extortion is "extremely generous". █
