Claims That Microsoft Looks for Staff That Works More and Gets Paid Less (or Can Only Code by Grabbing Other People's Code, Under the Guise of "AI")
We saw the same claim plenty of times at IBM or about IBM
About 30 comments were left in this forum since the Microsoft layoffs began yesterday morning (US time). I've read them all and noticed mentions of this news about Microsoft further cheapening the workforce (it was very visible in online searches as well; one can imagine many workers read it this week). Several spoke about overworking (10+ hours a day), some spoke about salaries being 80% of the median, some spoke of a "replacement", and many spoke of Nadella in the same way IBM staff speaks of Krishna, the CEO. Many feel like Microsoft is trying to replace staff with people who work more and work for less. They moreover believe that "AI" is a cynical plot to get people who can barely code or can only code poorly, then teaching them to use other people's code without permission [1, 2].
Techrights considers the subject not only political but also a magnet for racism (or racists it would rather not associate with because it's oversensitive a topic*), so it won't say much more except point to pages like this one. People can form their own opinion. █

* Sort of like disputing the claim that Islam is a religion of peace. One can quickly get in trouble for saying this, even for pointing out that the wife is being harassed by cultural misogynists.
