How to Get Very Bad or Even Malicious Code Into Linux? Write it in a Language That Linus Torvalds and Most Other Linux Developers Don't Understand.
Earlier this year: They Will Never Leave Linus Torvalds Alone, Rust is Just Another Way to Cause Instability and Infighting in Linux
There is a lot of discussion this week about the new Debian and about how Linus Torvalds reacted to some new code. Not too shockingly, Microsoft Lunduke (the "Linux sucks" troll) uses this to attack many people - including Torvalds - and to make Linux in general seem bad (projecting much?).
One point nobody brings up is, what if a bunch of code gets committed while evading audits and scrutiny? Or from some "large donor" of the Linux Foundation? What happens then?
At least for now, nobody gets scoffed or criticised by Linus Torvalds for Rust code in Linux... because Linus Torvalds cannot even comprehend this thing. In other words, he selectively cares about what bad code gets into Linux. At least Theodore Ts'o had the courage to speak out against Microsoft staff putting Rust inside Linux.
As long as Torvalds et al allow Rust code to land in Linux, as they do, making claims about code quality can be subjected to criticism. █
