In Russia, desktops and laptops are still widely used, unlike in countries that are remote and poor. However, Russia's Yandex is dominant on those (not Google), GNU/Linux usage is fast-growing or far-reaching, and Microsoft Windows is losing its share, as shown this month by statCounter:
Due to politics it mostly makes sense that Windows is being phased out, also in part due to policy changes.
Earlier this year Microsoft filed for bankruptcy in Russia [1, 2, 3]. The idea that Microsoft gained 2,500% in "value" is thus laughable. Microsoft is in trouble, so it's trying to sabotage the competition. █
