Food Forest Update #4
One medium sized project I accomplished this weekend was taking care of the mound of brush in the back corner of the yard by the alley. It was essentially a big rough compost pile where I would pile larger limbs, balls of roots I was removing and things like that. Long story short is the pile had been there for at least a year and was getting unsightly. Normally I would be not consider having this pile of organic material hauled away. Most of the time I would turn it and use the stuff on the bottom around the garden and keep adding to it. This time though, I just have too much organic material and I don't have the time or space to do something with it all.
Another factor is the big pile of wood chips that is still in the driveway. In the spring I accidentally got two truckloads of free mulch instead of just one so I have a surplus of good mixed species wood chips that is probably even better for my soil than that pile back by the alley and I would love to use it all and get the driveway cleared finally. I'm not there yet but I'm getting closer. So I already had a bunch of other limbs and bushes I have been pulling out piled up out front waiting to get picked up by the city yard waste crew. So the other day I hauled that pile by the alley to the front and in doing so cleared a spot in the back yard to plant something else. Plus, that spot should have pretty good soil for planting in after that pile of organic material breaking down sat there for a year.

Request for careful advice from a human
I’ve been in an anguished state for some time. I can’t seem to make choices or carry out most actions, no matter how simple. My thoughts used to either branch or loop. I ran out of new material, so my mind is asphyxiating. I have a flimsy hero complex despite this.
What I want is to not be so bored. I would like to see another human being in real life and have them see me. I’d like to increase the freedom of another person. If I can’t do this, I’m at a real loss.

August questions & a small update
add to that the general alienation I feel in the underground Interenet community at the moment (it's not you, it's me) it makes it really hard when I do find the time to then find the effort.

Sails
After marking Julian May's "The Nonborn King" as DNF in my pseudo-social literacy tracking portal, and having recently re-watched director Peter Weir's 2003 directorial effort (typing that is as masturbatory as I always imagined it would be) "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" after purchasing the recently released 4k steelbook like a good consoomer, I began reading liber primus (of 21) of the series it is based on. Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany's voices have been in my head all afternoon.
It's great so far. Haven't read this much boa- sorry, ship jargon since Moby Dick - which I understand just enough of to grasp the narrative, and wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not here to talk about the book, which I could see myself reading 20 more iterations of, because I only started today and that would be premature. Besides, I'm historically not one for book reviews. Get me a strong drink and a polite houseguest and they will have more book reviews than they ever wanted. On that note...

The Internet on 5.4 gigabytes a day
So 9 hours to download macOS. Basically overnight. That’s doable. For one person. Of course, I have two Macs and Apple-OS updates tend to come for all their devices simultaneously (so along with the Mac updates I’d almost always have iPhone and iPad updates to apply at the same time).
What gets worrisome are the piles of other things that need downloading. All the Office apps on my phone are roughly 500 MB apiece, and they seem to be updated as a set. I only have Excel on my phone and iPad, but I have Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams on my real computers. That kind of adds up.

The 2020 Explosion in Niche Spaces
I've been here since 2021 (with two different usernames) and I've noticed something strange. Not just here, but in other places as well, like Matrix and Lemmy, though the Fediverse proper seems immune to it (for now).
In 2020 there was a massive explosion in spaces like this (and niche internet spaces in general, such as Geminispace, Spacehey, Matrix, Lemmy, etc etc) that seems to have massively died down by now.

AI Pasta Sauce
I'm not a YouTube person, I remember its launch and occasionally visit with an intentional search on how to fix or build something but otherwise have no interest.
