We're Seeing More Countries Where Windows Isn't Even in Second Place Anymore (Third or Worse)
This month Microsoft is only third among search engines (statCounter sees Yandex as bigger; in some places it's Yahoo or Baidu) and in many countries Windows has fallen behind Apple - iOS, macOS, or both. In a few countries Windows fell behind (or below) GNU/Linux.
Windows has managed to fall to third in the Dominican Republic and Windows below 50% on desktops/laptops in some countries (it is below 70% in the Dominican Republic - almost an all-time low).
In a way, Microsoft can barely even hold onto second place anymore. The "value" of the company seems to go up as a function of "market share" going down. That does not seem to make sense; the company is borrowing about 3 billion dollars per month. █
"Microsoft, the world’s most valuable company, declared a profit of $4.5 billion in 1998; when the cost of options awarded that year, plus the change in the value of outstanding options, is deducted, the firm made a loss of $18 billion, according to Smithers."
