No Reason for Red Hat Relief Yet (Layoff Rumours)
Don't celebrate; the execution could be stalled, delayed, or scheduled for some time after people come back from holiday
Some days ago we showed that Red Hat was selling Microsoft in redhat.com and days earlier it hired yet another executive from Microsoft. If the rumours are true, tomorrow marks exactly a fortnight since the decision whether to lay off more Red Hat staff. "Apparently 08/11 is when they are deciding on this," said the rumour, alluding to the decision rather than execution thereof. "A lot of rumors circulating that IBM is asking RH to reduce staff," it said. One commenter added (days after this alleged/rumoured meeting): "Heard about 3 managers in our division. No idea who though. Just email from on high."
Red Hat staff is not "out of the woods" yet. █
