IBM Has Taken Control of GNOME
IBM has long pretended that Fedora was run by a community, but its Council was always (by design) a majority of IBM (then Red Hat) staff. So it could - and still can - control "the majority" and make all the important decisions all the time. Now that GNOME is melting down again (GNOME Foundation chaos) it's worth quoting the departing chief, saying that IBM staff "will also be taking over as acting Executive Director when I step down, as per GNOME Foundation bylaws, and picking up where I left off."
Don't expect a successor to be found any time soon. When two people resign without stating a reason (or a real reason) in the same year others "get the message". Also, this is hardly the first departure this week. Something smells bad there. █
