Christina's Questions for August š¤
I once lost a carved wooden box made by my mother. That was unpleasant. I have a wooden train made by my great grandfather that I'd be sad to lose. Everything else is replaceable.

How I fell in love with calendar.txt
The more I learn about Unix tools, the more I realise we are reinventing everyday Rube Goldbergās wheels and that Unix tools are, often, elegantly enough.
Months ago, I discovered calendar.txt. A simple file with all your dates which was so simple and stupid that I wondered 1) why I didnāt think about it myself and, 2) how it could be useful.

A personal ROOPHLOCH history
2023-09-02: I compose a post on my phone while getting rained on pretty close to the top of a mountain. I assume I committed the post on the phone too, but uploading it mustāve happened from an internet-accessible gap somewhere along the trail, or maybe I just waited until I got home (and indoors) before pushing and uploading.

What I'm playing šš Kitten Burst | Explore and race through cyberspace in the year 200X
As the millennium turned, cyberspace sat abandoned, leaving behind only bots, ads, and the few who dared venture into the ruins. In Kitten Burst, you play as Hapi, a flying race cat with an awful losing streak. A hacker offers to help you get a win, but in exchange, you need to fly through abandoned sites to help her harvest their energy.

ROOPHLOCH 2025
I just walked 3km into the woods, according to the GPS tracker on my Android phone.
First of all, the hardest part of this challenge is finding a somewhat secluded spot. The last thing I want to do is talk to people. :-)
I'm typing this on my Samsung NC10 Plus netbook, which runs OpenBSD. Let's try to take a photo (with a smartphone).
Aha, next problem. There is no Internet here, says the phone. :-) Let's walk some more and put the netbook into suspend again ...
Next try. Found another bench. Yes, there are benches here, this isn't some wilderness. But not a soul in sight, which is good. :-)

Alhena Tabs and Undefined Ratios
Alhena 5.3.1 is out with the following enhancements:
[...]
There are also bug fixes addressing the busy spinner when opening media in a new tab, resolution issues with certain relative links and an error with empty favicon.txt files.
If something's missing or you find a bug. Let me know. If you like Alhena, don't be shy. My downloads vs backlinks ratio is a curiously lopsided divide by zero problem.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
