Autumn Party
Last week was pretty rough. A roller coaster of emotions, from panic attack to orgasms. I smoked a few packs during the week, and one more during the weekend at the party.
It was quite the party too! It felt so good to dance like that. We had a good time, it was a nice drive and we stop at a pub by the river. Had a good meal, in preparation for all the alcohol we'd drink. The music was great, an outdoor party, with a lot of a 'hippy' 'raver' style. Lots of drug on the dance floor, k, acid, ecstasy, blow.... I only drank mescal, and smoke cigarettes. Had a few deep spiritual talk here and there too!

Jerky!
Most things I’ve written recently have been simply too intense to make for good Pub chatter, so here’s something else:
I love beef jerky. It’s one of my favorite snacks, so I’ve been dehydrating my own for more than ten years. Alas, the price of beef here has risen so significantly in the last six months that I can no longer justify the cost. So last week I attempted my first batch of pork jerky, and here’s how it went.
I should preface this by saying that I prefer my jerky suitable for an Arctic expedition or wagon train to Oregon--dry, dry, dry. More like meat crackers than the gooey stuff that passes for jerky on store shelves these days, so keep that in mind. I also do not add sugar, but that is more of a personal preference.
I suspect pretty much any jerky marinade would work, but my beef go-to is a mixture of soy sauce, sriracha, and Worcestershire sauce (the original, with anchovies). I add black pepper, red pepper flakes, and powdered ginger to taste. I kept the proportions the same for the pork so I could do a fair comparison.

Fumbling for the reset button
I’ve been thinking about change a lot. For a few years now, I’ve been restless and vaguely uncomfortable with where my life is, but have struggled to identify specifics. It’s compounded first and foremost by the fact that we humans are very good at post-hoc rationalizations; I can come up with any number of things that *could* be why I feel this way, but that doesn’t mean that they *are*. On top of that, by the metrics used by anyone I’ve talked to about this, I’m doing good. I wouldn’t say that I feel guilty about being uncomfortable, necessarily, but it does add some extra static to trying to figure things out.
The one thing I do know is that I need to change something, something big or fundamental. Whether this is external or internal remains unclear. For example, I’d love to find a new job, but don’t actually know what I want to look for.

Searching the blogs on the RPG Planet
I'm maintaining the RPG Planet. Having recently developed Xobaque, a search engine that indexes feeds, I wanted to give it a try. And here we are: Search RPG Planet! 🥳 Let's see how it goes.

Optical ROOPHLOCH
Well I've spent too long trying to get things right with my optical Tx/Rx and now it's starting to rain. I think I already accidentally uploaded a test transmission, so even if this doesn't get through maybe that will count.

Blobsquatches
In June I wrote how I wasn't going to add scripting to Alhena. Instead I thought it might be cool to put a directive on a pre-formatted text block that would "hint" at a font size. Why? So one could display detailed ascii art created with "high resolution" Code Page 437 characters.
Well, I didn't do it (again)...but I kinda did (again). Now you can create styles in Alhena that can be applied by page, domain or URL. If you opt for the smallest allowable monspaced font in your page style, you can get some interesting results with this type of ascii art

My phlog
What blog is for web, phlog is for gopher. With smaller or bigger gaps my phlog is here since 2011. I hope you'll enjoy reading it, as much as I did writing it.
