    I had the early shift at work today. I got up at 5 AM (eugh) but that means I have a decent amount of time after work to do whatever. The problem is, of course, I'm too tired to feel like doing anything right now. I think I only got 5 hours of sleep.

    i've been learning a lot since the spiritual renewal of the eclipse. aside from the basic role/aspect of confidante, home, the promised embrace, my understanding of the lady expanded to include initiator. not only does she walk with us since the very moment the possibility of a life arises, shepherding us through life, a constant companion, until we embrace her at the end. but she also initiates - into the mysteries of the afterlife, she ushers you through that door. but also - into anything unknown. into magic. any threshold between knowing and not-knowing. the one way street of awakening to a truth, the bliss of ignorance forever lost. (addendum: now she's the guardian of all barriers, including interpersonal boundaries).

  • Flashing LineageOS onto a cheap refurbished OnePlus6

    Continuing quest for de-googling & less reliance on big-tech ... just bought a refurbished OnePlus 6 from Ebay (75€). No SIM, it is after all just a small computer. WiFi or hotspot for connections. Flashed LineageOS (de-Googled Android). Installed FDroid & a few necessary apps/PWAs from there ... Proton, Tuta, Element, Jerboa (Lemmy) & of course Mastodon. Turned off notifications. Zero bloat.

  • Food Forest Update #5 - (ROOPHLOCH Edition)

    This food forest project has really gotten out of hand. I'm out on the porch writing this update on my Palm Tungsten C PDA connected to a folding keyboard. If you're reading this that means I've hopefully gotten around to transferring the file somewhere and posting it before the end of the month.

    What I've just finished doing before sitting down to write this was crawling around in the dirt with a flashlight, seeds, tape and markers planting and labeling seeds. I would say I'm a bit obsessed at this point. I love it.

    Now that the seeds are planted and labeled I'll take this opportunity to get down everything I've worked on the last few weeks before I forget it.

  • ROOPHLOCH

    September is already over halfway through and I have not phosted anything for ROOPHLOCH 2025. It has been on my mind since solderpunk made his phost [1], I just haven't done anything about it until now. So at least there is this phost. Perhaps I will think about it some more cnd have another phost before the month is through.

    Nothing too fancy about this one. I am phosting from a picnic table under a tree behind a local credit union in a nearby neighborhood. It is evening and still warm outside (80's F) even thoughthe sun has set awhile ago. Today was a hot one. Not sure how hot, but at one point I saw 97F. My body is not enjoying this heat and my allergies are acting up, so this is probably gonna be a short one. Peopel are still out and about, getting their night time exercise, walking their dogs, leaving local dining establishments. I'll probably do a bit more wallking myself since it seems to help some.
