This is How Microsoft's XBox and Entire Consoles (If Not Gaming) Ventures Will Ultimately Die
Ensure you can blame "Tariffs" (politics)? If not "hey hi", the fashionable go-to excuse when businesses fail?
A few hours ago from Microsoft advocates:
And former Microsoft:
The other day we mentioned the latest XBox perils. A month ago we also mentioned the morale going downhill, even more so among the workers who make games. Many expect to be laid off... at any moment; because many will be. They see many colleagues agonising, vanishing, sometimes working until very late in the office, then dying.
XBox is going downhill fast because the business is shrinking (spending a fortune - and several years lobbying aggresively - on purchasing a company does not change that) and the losses add up. Microsoft openly admitted that it is losing money on every XBox sold, not to mention sales declining by a lot (which in a sense means narrower losses but still a defeat to Sony, Nintendo, and others).
It's not clear if XBox will be "the next Skype" [1, 2] in the next few years, but it seems increasingly likely. We see many of the same data points. █
