Reliance on Typepad Seems to Have Doomed the Voice of Software Patents and Patent Maximalists in PatentDocs
Typepad is shutting down in 5 days. It announced this "August 27, 2025":
A day later, a site that had long relied on Typepad (PatentDocs) published what now seems like its final post:
Of course it came from Michael Borella, a loud advocate of software patents in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and elsewhere. He was also an habitual critic of 35 U.S.C. § 101/Alice (SCOTUS). Why? Follow the money. That's why.
Watchtroll uses WordPress 6.8.2 (according to the page source), so it does not have that same sort of reliance. It seems to be hosting without some nefarious third party, so it'll continue attacking judges and promoting patents on life, on algorithms etc. It recently attacked professors for merely asserting life should not be patented (monopolised). Watchtroll also promotes the illegal UPC, as does IP Kat, which fails to disclose the conflict of interest (Rose Hughes and Annsley Merelle Ward). They're happy to promote illegal things as long as they profit from these. █
