GNU Was Right 42+ Years Ago
THE founder of the FSF, which turns 40 in 4 days, foresaw the threat of technical gadgetry that controls us instead of us controlling it (and we're moreover rendered powerless to alter how it behaves). What struck him as absurd was what Xerox had done around 1980. In 1983 (just over 42 years ago) he announced GNU.
Since then the abusive, user-hostile technology has spread like mushrooms. We need to put our foot down and put an end to it. █
