The Comment TheLayoff.com Has Just Censored for Criticising a Ridiculous Puff Piece of IBM Management

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Oct 07, 2025

Ridiculous Work Life Balance article from VC at IBM

Everything we link to in IRC automatically and instantly gets archived by us (since almost 2008 for IRC, as the auto-archive for the site dates back to early 2007, based on my vague recollection). It's because we have an archival bot. It habitually comes in handy.

TheLayoff.com uses ClownFlare, however, so our bot could not retrieve a copy of what was there (it does not play "JavaScript games") and Google Cache has been deprecated for a while (Google has it but refuses to share is any longer). Thankfully we saved the censored comment in IRC.

It said:

Emily Fontaine brags about herself in the article but like so many IBM "leaders" she is now just another IBM DEI nothing burger. Below is her LinkedIn profile and you can she not only has she DONE NOTHING, she LISTS NOTHING! No details nada nothing!

She has spent her whole career at IBM in do nothing jobs involving government and diversity and inclusion, No goals. No objectives, No strategies. No results. She popped out into this Head of VC role after following IBM CEO Arvind Krishna around for 2 years with her title as "IBM Office of the Chairman and CEO"?

I guess that means she knew he liked his chai black with sugars? No responsibilities and no results?! The article says she fills her day watching Korean dramas? Drinking water? And 10 miles with her doodles? Ok then great job!

Clearly far left DEI liberal activist who spends a good portion of her day reading political junk from the Wall Street Journal and The Economist. Went to Mount Holyoke and George Washington Univ and lives in DC swamp. Then listens to Washington DC political podcasts. No wonder IBM is such a woke dumpster fire.

OMG then she comes home and makes tea and watches CNBC! after walking the dogs? Oh and this is VERY IMPORTANT; "I plan my outfits over the weekend so I don't need to think about it in the morning."

Oh Wow when she is in NYC she tries REALLY hard to get to the IBM office by 8:30! And wait for it..."Breakfast is a must for me, and I usually grab a smoothie or anything egg-sandwich-related on my way in. I'm a vegetarian, so I've got to get that protein somehow.". And she walks around the loop of the office!!

And this nugget; she keeps mtgs to 20 minutes (what can you get done in 20 minutes?!) and un planned issues can throw her whole day off?! WTF?!

"Working on her laptop can be tedious and challenging". So she walks around to people's desks and interrupts them with her cup of water.

It just keeps getting better. "She is a big decorator" for her desk. She gets a desk while we get nothing. She made a calendar! And keeps he speaking engagement mtgs badges! And keeps a poster from CEOs who signed it after IBM invested in them. Whoopie!

Falling out of my chair now. She makes and brings her own lunch!? And on IBM's time practices sign language?! We have no time to go to the bathroom!

This article would make AN AWESOME SNL Saturday Night Live skit but other than that total BS fluff! C'MON IBM BE GREAT AGAIN AND STOP PROMOTING PEOPLE LIKE THIS!!!

TheLayoff.com considered this comment unfit for publication, despite it being heavily upvoted, but this person is a public figure (upper level management) and there are no rude or "bad" words.

It seems like TheLayoff.com does "quality control" based on optics rather than objective rules to be equally applied and fairly enforced.

If comments get censored for their "style" rather than their substance, then society will be worse off. They gag legitimate, probably honest but disgruntled workers who have legitimate worries about incompetent management and manipulative media (in this case Microsoft's MSN).
