Another Black Eye for 'Secure Boot', Microsoft Media Tries to Blame "Linux"
13 months ago we sued Garrett [1, 2] after he had long harassed us. He harassed us because we criticised UEFI 'Secure Boot', which is more like a back door or 'kill switch'. It enables Microsoft to remotely control computers, even computers that don't run Windows and never had any Microsoft software installed.
As noted about an hour ago, this Microsoft-friendly site says that "[a]round 200,000 Linux computer systems from American computer maker Framework were shipped with signed UEFI shell components that could be exploited to bypass Secure Boot protections."
Those computers are under political attacks at the moment. Maybe the above is more of the same. An associate took a look at the report "though that site is always amplifying FUD against FOSS in general and against Linux specifically..."
"Indeed," he said, "reading the article shows that the problem is with Restricted Boot and UEFI, but not with Linux itself."
Their headline says "Linux". Microsoft uses Restricted Boot ('Secure Boot') to attack Linux and when things go wrong it blames "Linux".
Meanwhile the 'Hulk Hogan of UEFI' engages in highly intolerant attacks on critics: If You Glorify Violence, Then Some People Will Eventually Do It | The Second Antisemitic Attack in Manchester on October 2nd Came From Brett Wilson LLP (Almost at the Exact Same Time as the First) | Brett Wilson LLP Acting in a Way That We Deem Antisemitic, Disrespectful, and Highly Insensitive | Safety Precautions and Hate Crimes | Brett Wilson LLP Not Only Attacks People During Funerals But Also During Fasting on Holiest of Days (and the Latter is Intentional) █
