Half a Year After Brian Fagioli Got Kicked Out of BetaNews for Slop He's Still Doing LLM Slop and Slop Images Targeting 'Linux' (Plagiarising Original Works)
Earlier this year the boss at BetaNews kept deleting articles published Brian Fagioli. He knew those articles were fake and it was becoming a major reputation problem for BetaNews. Each time those got deleted it was an acknowledge that BetaNews knew what Fagioli had long been doing. The last BetaNews 'news' post by Fagioli put Linux's Tux next to a rat (the term "RAT" is an acronym and has nothing to do with vermin).
After BetaNews, Fagioli is trying to push his fake articles into Slashdot and sometimes he succeeds. He's basically like an online scam artist who pretends to have produced something. In practice, he just uses plagiarism tools to mimic works of others.
Consider his latest two fake articles.
This first one rips off several authors:
So does this one, which repackages other people's work using LLMs.
If the Web gets polluted or flooded by slopfarms such as these, and Slashdot then sends traffic so these slopfarms (Slashdot probably doesn't do this intentionally), then real writers with real knowledge of GNU/Linux will lose the spark for publishing. █
