Microsoft's Killing of Vista 10 Seems to Have Resulted in More Articles About GNU/Linux (But Also FUD)
Do you waddle the waddle?
About a week ago Vista 10 came to an "end" after Microsoft had consciously "killed" it (to promote Kill Switches). Millions of people began searching for alternatives, not spyware or a screenlogger disguised as an "operating system".
We not only saw a rise in traffic, we also saw a remarkable rise in the number of articles. Over at Tux Machines, for example, we've added over 250 new pages in one week (latest). We also saw a share of Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt (FUD) or fear-mongering, dramatisation, scare tactics etc. Here's a pair of hours-old examples from Google News, and we should note both are fake 'articles':
At the bottom it says "Gurubaran is a co-founder of Cyber Security News and GBHackers On Security."
Slop farmer, that's all he is, and Google News helps give visibility to his slopfarms, which replicate FUD and misinformation.
Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) in Linux are almost 30 years old and CVE-2025-8941 is already old. It was patched two months ago. █
