We have long accused The Register MS, based on extensive and hard evidence, of propping up a Ponzi scheme. Moreover, based on my private conversations with the Editor in Chief (who was replaced by a Microsofter some months ago), they are fully aware of what they're doing. They cannot "plead ignorance"; there's no innocence here either, they actually know the ramifications and they actively seek to profit from a bubble that's waiting to burst, taking down a lot of the economy (and people's pensions) with it.
Pyramid schemes are difficult to pull of without collaborators and enablers, both active and passive.
Do not have empathy for those who have zero empathy towards you. The Register MS, empathetic towards money, and no matter whose, is a part of the problem. █
