Claim That EPO Quotas Brought Corruption and Mischief to Europe's Second-Largest Institution
We are in the process of ensuring that this EPO crisis won't just be 'brushed off'. The German (or EU) media needs to revisit it. A lot of journalists were not aware that they had stepped in "EPO poo" (the media should know better; it was led to believe that the handcuffed Berenguer was just some Spanish tourist).
Separately, regarding the so-called 'Club Med' of Benoît Battistelli and António Campinos (essentially or effectively hijacking the Office for 2 decades!), one reader who had spent decades at the Office told us:
Hi Roy,Did you have time to study Yvan de la Fuente's meteoric career at the EPO? See his previous experience from the LinkedIn data: none. Isn't it a wonder that this guy was promoted [to] Principal Director with at least €20000 (plus daily allowances, bonuses...) a month two years before retiring?
There is a fairy tale behind this ascension...
Remember Spain signed the EPC in 1986 [not 1973]. At the time the EPO need to massively recruit Spaniards to cope with the quotas.
About 10 years ago we wrote a number of detailed articles about the Dutch and German origins of the EPO, which was preceded by other, lesser-known institutions (one of them with actual Nazi roots). When the Corsican Battistelli took over in 2010 the EPO deteriorated and normalised outlawed activities. Nowadays corruption is the norm at the EPO and there is even rampant substance abuse among the people who run the Office. █
